Write out of my cubicle

By: Dan Miller

Eight years ago Max Berry was making $25,000 a
year at Hewlett Packard. He drove a $200 Toyota
and says, ďI didnít really feel like I was accomplishing
that much at work.Ē He wrote his first novel,
Syrup, by writing during his 40-minute lunch
breaks. His next novel, Jennifer Government,
was a dark comedy about a future in which
corporations, not countries, rule the world.

Syrup and Jennifer Government are
currently in the script stage and Max is touring to
promote his third novel, Company, another
story inspired by life in the cubicle. Maybe your
present job is just the setting to provide you the
material for your first great novel. Donít overlook the
possibilities.
